| Uddevalla
|
From
her secure position, flanked by forests, Uddevalla casts a watchful eye
seaward. Strategically placed half way betwwen Gothenburg and Strömstad
on the Bohus coastal band, the city provides for 49,000 inhabitants.
|
Trade and commerce have always played an important role here and apart from the
commerce concentrated in central Uddevalla, there is considerable hustle
and bustle at Torp, a modern shopping complex strategically placed on
the E6 road. A third commercial center is to be found in idyllic Ljungskile,
which has developed from a 19th century seaside resort into today ?s
lively community. .
|
 Uddevalla
is the area administrative and higher education center, providing
a home for the region ?s expanding university.
Our most celebrated international attraction, dating from Carl von
Linne ?s time, are unique banks of shellfish, which are the result
of a very special interplay between land and sea. There are activities
to suit one and all here, from swimming and sunbathing, forest wandering,
to a fishing trip in the mountains.
