Skåne's golf heaven - the call of 60 golf courses
The number of golf courses in Skåne continues to grow. There are more
than 60 courses of various descriptions, meaning that wherever you may
be in the province there is always a tee nearby. And our lovely and varied
nature ensures that no golf trip is like the next.
Romeleåsen, in central Skåne, is a typical park course, while Falsterbo,
in the south-western corner of the province, is a classic seashore link
course. Another famous course lies in south-eastern Skåne, namely Österlens,
a combination of seashore and park. All of Skåne's courses are open
to greens fee play.
Skåne's climate is great for golf, with a mild winter and early
spring that lets you play nearly year-round. This is perhaps why golf
has been played here since the early 1900's. The oldest courses are Falsterbo
from 1911, Kristianstad and Helsingborg from 1924 and Torekov from 1925.
But it was first in the 1980's that the number of courses expanded strongly
and more than half of Skåne's golf courses were built during the 1980's
and the 1990's. The latest additions are the Staffanstorp Golf Course
and the Tumba Golf för Alla Golf Course, outside Löddeköpinge.
It's easy to book a golf weekend in Skåne and there are package tours
in different price classes. On the Skåne Tourist Council homepage there
are ready-made golf packages that include lodgings, dinner and greens
fee. You can choose to play one or more courses, to live on manorial country
estates, in a simple hotel or at a youth hostel.
