Getting around
|
Public
transportation in greater Copenhagen and southern Sweden is safe, efficient,
easy an inexpensive. It´s a finely meshed network of buses and trains
that run from 5 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., and special night buses continue until
dawn. Tickets are interchangeable, and prices are based on the number of
zones travelled and duration of th journey. A new Water Bus takes you to
stops around the harbour.
|
Taxis |
They´re plentiful in Copenhagen and Malmö. Taxis in Denmark
operate on a fixed mileage rate and accept most major credit cards. You
can order them by phone or hail them on the street, and all fares include
the tip.
Malmö has two taxi price classes and fares are often negotiable. It´s
best to check the fare in advance.
|
Free Citybikes |
Bicycles are the most popular mode of transport. Even government ministers
pedal to work!
Visitors can rent bikes at many locations - or you can "rent"
one for free. Citybikes are available at stands around Copenhagen for only
a small deposit.
Cycling is safe and regulated in Copenhagen. Most major streets have special
cycle lanes with traffic lights and markings, and some routes are for bikes
only. |
